A Large and Beautifully Sculpted 1st Century AD Classical Roman Torso of an Athlete standing contraposto, balanced on his right leg, the left leg trailing slightly, with minor restorations. The robust modeling of the musculature, as well as the pose, recall a type identified as the ‘oil pourer” traditionally associated with the 5th Century B.C. Greek sculptor Polykleitos and his followers.
